Western College Players Theatre Company are Plymouth's longest established Amateur Dramatics Company.
Our on going mission is to provide Plymouth with a non pretentious forum that inspires all ages to actively participate in theatrical productions with wide ranging appeal.
Every year, we gather to meticulously produce a quality project worthy of the company's history and long standing place within the local theatrical scene.
Our philosophy is 'learning through doing'. We provide opportunities for all members of the community to take part both front and back stage in a friendly, unintimidating setting.
For young people we offer valuable experience which can help prepare for a successful career in the industry, often offering opportunities to perform/participate creatively in projects unavailable elsewhere.
Uniquely, we do not charge a membership- and are a not for profit organisation, a successful project serves only to fund our next theatrical venture!

THE CANTERVILLE GHOST
JANUARY 2027
in the DRUM THEATRE ROYAL PLYMOUTH
When a modern American family move into a historical English Manor House they soon learn that a previous owner, a 16th century ghost, has no intentions of moving out- thus beginning a battle of wits between mortal and spiritual worlds.
It is a premise that fans of the BBC comedy series ghosts may find familiar- but it was the brilliant Oscar Wilde who first told a similar tale in this classic 1881 short story which became a generational family favourite.
This modern update expands the story, retaining all of Wilde’s customary wit, whilst adding a sense of the macabre that will thrill fans of Wednesday and/or Beetlejuice. Utterly hilarious and satirical we’re sure this offers the perfect mix for fans of classic literature and modern audiences alike.
WCP are proud to bring this rarely performed Wilde classic to the Plymouth stage- which should both delight his legions of fans- and, for those less familiar with his
great works, provide a highly accessible introduction to a literary genius.

We will soon be reading and auditioning our next production 'THE CANTERVILLE GHOST' there are roles for all ages. These events are invitation only - but its easy to be invited just contact us via the contact details on this site below or visit our Facebook page and send us a private message. We hope to see you soon!
