WELCOME!

Notice Board

Keep checking back - because this is where members can keep up to date with latest WCP News!

In Loving Memory

Our dear ex-chairman & life member Jill Nicholas passed away recently. The company will miss her terribly and be forever in her debt for all she did to ensure its success throughout the years

90 years of Western College Players:

In Western College Players' 90th year - our first celebratory production was a brilliant new version of 'THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME' in

The Drum Theatre Royal Plymouth

We then presented our community production 'WARTIME CHRISTMAS'. Unfortunately Covid 19 put an abrupt end to the celebrations- but WCP returned to the Drum Theatre Royal in 2022 with our successful production of Oscar wilde's classic -  'Lady Windermere's Fan'

 W.C.P Community projects:

WCP Theatre company spent a few years performing, and working, with the pupils of Tor Bridge High on projects such as  'Much Ado about Nothing',  'A Christmas Carol', 'Alice's adventures in wonderland', 'The witches', 'The BFG' and more. Thanks to Joanne and the staff and pupils.

'The Witches' - L-R: Jill Nicholas, Chloe Crouch, Claire Roberts, Pippa Giles, Carole Roberts, Robin Lee

'Much Ado about NothingL-R Bill Brimblecombe, Carole Roberts, Gareth Roberts, Abbie Goulden, Claire Roberts

Cast of 'THE BFG' above: Gareth, Aeryn Sedgwick, Rae Dawe, Carole Roberts, Jenny Deacon and Right Claire Roberts

WCP are an all inclusive company and are always seeking new members of all ages.. looking for a new hobby? Come and join our fun group- you can be sure of a warm welcome.. and the opportunity to take part in really exciting new projects

A Fond Farewell

We were very sorry to hear of the recent death of life member Bill Stone- a major figure in the history of Western College Players. An esteemed director, prolific theatre lover and Herald Critic - his talent and sharp wit will be missed by all who knew him

Two More Sad Losses

WCP are sad to have lost two people very dear to the company in recent months- most everybody who has been associated with the company since the eighties will have known Angela Nicholas - who alongside her parents Jill and Gerald, was a constant supporter of the company and broke down so many barriers with her participation. We have also lost one of our great friends and favourite directors the wonderful Barry Sanigar- a larger than life personality, who was loved and respected by all. They will be sorely missed, our thoughts are with their families.

RIP

Winifred Hooper:

We were very saddened to learn of the recent death of WCP life member Winifred Hooper. Win was our longest serving member. Her death at the grand age of 98, marks the end of an era for the company - she was dedicated to Western College Players for a great many years and will always be fondly remembered by all those who knew her. Our sympathies to her friends and family.

These pictures of Win (holding the tea cup and under the blanket!) are taken from 'Sailor Beware' - a play performed by the company on a few occasions, and probably one of the roles for which she will be best remembered!

Charity Projects:

WCP were thrilled to raise £328 for St Luke's Hospice following our fantastic 'Sleeping Beauty and the Beast' pantomime - thanks to Nina Wearne for attending the open evening on the 2nd February so we could present the cheque, and well done to all who contributed
